Intermediate Enviro Cover is designed for landfill places where it will not be used for an extended period of time. It is placed on top of a medium, e.g. soil, to create an effective impermeable barrier between the waste and the environment.
US Environmental Protection Agency requires that if compacted earthen material is used as intermediate cover, it must be placed at a depth of 12 inches (300 mm) or more to control disease vectors, fires, odors, blowing litter and scavenging.
With Intermediate Enviro Cover, the amount of earthen material used in the cover layer can be greatly reduced. As a result, a landfill can save significant amount of material cost and operating cost for applying the cover.
Intermediate Enviro Cover has superb ability in encouraging water runoff and controlling water infiltration. Therefore, it minimizes leachate generation and the potential cost of leachate treatment.
Because the Cover is impermeable, it can effectively minimize odors and gas emissions at the surface.
Intermediate Enviro Cover is designed for coverage periods of up to six months.
