Extended Enviro Cover (EEC) is a special kind of alternative daily cover. It is classified as nonreusable geosynthetic alternative daily cover in ASTM D 6523-00 (2009). Unlike daily covers, Extended Enviro Cover is designed to provide prolonged coverage of up to four weeks. Because of that, it is ideal for the following applications:
- Working face where the fill sequence continues in a lateral direction
- Working face that could be temporarily relocated or become inactive
- Working face that requires longer cover periods prior to next deposit of waste
- Working face and side slope working faces
Extended Enviro Cover meets US Environmental Protection Agency’s requirement on controlling disease vectors, fires, odors, blowing litter and scavenging without presenting a threat to human health or the environment.
Because the film is engineered with extremely good tear and puncture resistance, high tensile strength and elongation, it stretches over uneven surfaces to provide optimal and complete landfill coverage.
Extended Enviro Cover film is impermeable and does not require removal from the working face. As a result, it provides a complete, conforming and continuous closure of the active working face from its deployment to the next deposit of waste. In addition, the cover encourages water runoff and effectively controls water infiltration and reduces leachate generation. It minimizes the escape of odors and air emissions. The cover is mechanically destroyed on subsequent placement of waste. Hence, it will not impede the movement of bio gas inside the landfill.
Extended Enviro Cover is a cost-saving alternative to the use of soil cover and other alternative daily covers such as foam, sprays and removable tarps. It conserves valuable airspace and reduces operation costs. It can be applied in most adverse climatic conditions, including rain, snow and freezing temperatures, to provide utmost barrier protection.
Extended Enviro Cover is buff in color and comes in various sizing and dimensions.
